More flooring upstairs.  At least I’m getting a little faster at it…

The linoleum flooring for the bathrooms, utility, mudroom and pantry also arrived today.

Change Log for Thursday, May 7, 2009

I picked up the plumbing pieces for the master bathroom shower and got some miscellaneous things at the hardware store.  I tried to order the counter for the master bathroom, but found that the person who had given me the quote did it incorrectly and the real cost is more than double the original quote.  So, we’re back to square one on the master bathroom counter.  I picked up some formica samples, but I didn’t find anything particularly appealing.  We may do sealed plywood temporarily and then do a concrete countertop in there after all.

The tile guys finished working on the master bathroom and it looks great.  The downstairs bath is all ready to go once the tile comes in.  They should be back on Thursday of next week to finish up that bathroom and will probably be done on Friday.  I am so glad we subbed all this out, even if it is costing a fair amount.  Tile is a lot of work, and it is very important that it is done correctly!

I went down to the house to work on the flooring in the afternoon, but Nathan didn’t nap like he usually does so I ended up not being able to do it.  I’m hoping to get to work on it some more this afternoon if I can get Nathan to do his usual nap.

Matt and I both laid some flooring today.  I’m starting to wish we had wider planks.  It is slow going, but at least progress is being made.  The tile is really looking nice though – I am so glad we hired this out.  They are doing a wonderful job.  If anyone around here needs tile work done, I definitely would recommend them.

I installed wood flooring upstairs for a couple hours.  The inspector came by and signed off on our propane lines, so we are set to get our tank installed.  Once the ground dries out a bit (we’ve gotten something like 3.5″ of rain since Friday!) I’ll bury the propane lines and get rid of all the open trenches we have outside our side door.  The tile guys are still hard at work and should be done sometime early next week.  The showers are looking really good and we’re really pleased with their work.

Change Log for Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

Matt

  • Worked on the wood flooring upstairs – this was fairly challenging because the long wall is not straight, making the first run of flooring rather complicated.

Amber

  • Filled nail holes on the railing with wood putty
  • Finally finished the plug in the utility room that needed drywall repair, more paint, and spacers
  • Worked with Matt on the flooring so I could learn how to do it.  I may end up doing some of the flooring so Matt can do other things and so that work can proceed on that during the week as well.

Change Log for May 1, 2009

  • My Mom stained Emma’s door
  • Put a coat of finish on the two stained bedroom doors (and wow does that stuff stink!)
  • Started sanding the railing in preparation for staining
  • Our propane pipe installation passed inspection so I started filling in the trench outside (with a 10 month old in a backpack, thank you very much) but was stopped by the rain

And yes, it is now May and we’re STILL not living in our house…  *sigh*

Change Log for April 30, 2009

  • Ordered the counter for the kids’ bathroom
  • Bought some supplies for staining the doors
  • Uhh…  obviously I can’t go this long without updating the site because I can’t remember if I did anything else.  I know I did some work in the garden, but as to the house?  Hmm.
  • The propane company came and installed the propane pipe and risers
  • My Mom stained the boys’ bedroom door and prepped Emma’s door.
